Stuttgart chief Sven Mislintat has admitted it is ‘likely’ Manchester United-linked striker Sasa Kalajdzic could leave the club in the summer.

The Bundesliga side narrowly avoided relegation from the German top-flight on the final day of the season and despite maintaining their place in the league, one of their prized assets has been linked with a move away. United are eager to bolster their attacking options and current interim boss Ralf Rangnick has already highlighted the “obvious” need for a young striker to enter the fray at Old Trafford.

Kalajdzic has been touted with a move to the Theatre of Dreams in recent weeks. The towering 24-year-old forward netted six goals in 15 appearances for Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side, contributing massively to their survival push with two goals in their final two games against Bayern Munich and FC Koln.

With Erik ten Hag set to take over the Reds in the summer, the former Arsenal head of recruitment has opened the exit door for the Swiss striker. “As things stand, we have to generate another significant transfer surplus in this summer of transfers,” he told BILD.

“So, nothing other than the renewed objective of staying in the league is realistic for me. Especially if you take into account the quality of the already determined promoted teams. It would be outstanding if we can keep Sasa as a player and guy in our team. However, in my estimation, this is not very likely.”
