Erik ten Hag answers Cristiano Ronaldo Manchester United question with seven-word answer

Incoming Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has expressed his excitement to work with superstar Cristiano Ronaldo – quashing uncertainty surrounding the Portugal captain’s future.

Ahead of the 52-year-old’s arrival at Old Trafford, question marks had arisen over whether the 37-year-old would fit into his squad or if he would leave the Reds after just one campaign. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has already offered his verdict on the Eredivisie-winning manager ahead of his arrival.

Despite sceptics over his capabilities in the Premier League, Ronaldo has illustrated his class and quality after firing 18 goals in 30 appearances in the English top-flight. As well as his two important hat-tricks during the league campaign, he has also added six goals in the Champions League.

With Ten Hag set to be at Selhurst Park on Sunday for United’s final match of the campaign against Crystal Palace, he has been saying his goodbyes to those connected with Ajax. In his final interview with their in-house media team, he was handed a memory book which featured a picture of him and Ronaldo during their Champions League tussle in 2019.

Asked about working with ‘one of his future players’, Ten Hag said: “He’s a true winner and a magnificent player. I can’t wait to work with him.”
