Milan have announced that Fikayo Tomori’s surgery has been carried out successfully and the player has thanked the fans for their support.

The 24-year-old English defender suffered a knee injury in the first half of the 3-1 Coppa Italia win over Genoa yesterday which required a keyhole surgery to fix. This was taken today and things have gone well, starting the player on his path to recovery.

As announced in Milan’s statement, they expected Tomori to be sidelined for around 30 days, meaning that he’ll miss the matches against Spezia, Juventus, Inter and Sampdoria, as well as the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.

Tomori thanked the fans for their support, saying: “Successful surgery today, aiming to return to the pitch as soon as possible. Thank you all for your messages of support.”

The 24-year-old Tomori, who is contracted to Milan until 2025, has made 23 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1914 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal and helped the side keep six clean sheets.
