West Ham flop Sebastien Haller has equalled one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League records and broken another set by Erling Haaland by scoring in Ajax’s matchday six tie against Sporting Lisbon. Ajax have already won their group, but refused to take their foot off the gas against the Portuguese side.

Haller has been on fire for Ajax this season since joining the Dutch side for a club-record fee.

The Ivory Coast international has bagged 18 goals in 19 games across all competitions in the current campaign – the majority of them coming in the Champions League.

Erik Ten Hag’s men have won their group, thanks in large part to Haller’s goals.

Haller has bagged ten goals in six games in the competition – matching a record set by Ronaldo.

The forward has scored in each group game this season, something only previously done by Manchester United forward Ronaldo.

His goal also meant he broke the record set by Haaland – who was previously the quickest player to ten goals in the competition.

Borussia Dortmund ace Haaland scored ten goals in his first seven games, and that record previously seemed unreachable given how he exploded onto the scene in Europe.

But Haller has now bettered that record by one game, having netted ten in six.

Haller’s form helped Ajax win their group with a game to spare, an impressive feat considering they were up against Dortmund and Sporting for the two qualification spots.

His impressive displays haven’t gone unnoticed, with reports even linking him with a move away less than a year after he arrived at the Johan Cruyff ArenA.

Dortmund are said to have identified him as a potential target, with Haaland expected to leave next summer.

But Ten Hag was in no mood to discuss the speculation when pressed on it recently.
