Raphinha, 24, has been one of Leeds’ star performers since their return to the Premier League in 2020, bagging nine goals and nine assists in 38 matches.
The winger’s performances earned him his first call up for his nation in the recent international break where he picked up three caps and two goals.
They have also brought about links with the Reds, a move which Rivaldo believes would be a positive step in his career, even though it may mean sitting on the bench.
Speaking to Betfair, he said: “Raphinha performed well on his debut for Brazil, but he was already shining in the Premier League with Leeds United and there are rumours of interest from Liverpool.
“If he were to make the move, he may not be a regular starter, but I’m sure it would be a big step in his career.
“It would allow him to compete for titles and play in the Champions League which could be crucial for more call ups into the Brazilian national team.
What should Raphinha’s next move be? Let us know in the comments section.
“He has the quality to play for a bigger club. He is playing excellent football and a player always wants more and stronger challenges, so he would benefit from a transfer.”
More calls up for Brazil will certainly be an incentive for Raphinha with the 2022 World Cup just around the corner and competition rife in their squad.
He set up Marquinhos and Antony for their goals in a 3-1 victory against Venezuela on his aforementioned debut.
And then he further helped his case by netting twice in the 4-1 qualifier win over Uruguay to help cement his country’s spot at the top of the South America standings.
His contract at Elland Road expires in 2024, so he could be on the move as soon as next summer.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are favourites to sign him and he could be a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah who is still yet to sign a new deal with the Merseyside club.
