United States gymnast Simone Biles has been recognised by social media website Twitter with her own emoji: a goat wearing a red shirt with a gold medal around its neck.
This makes her the first sportswoman to have their own emoji on the site, which described the image as a tribute to her ‘legacy, achievements and epic usage of the platform’.
The goat image has clearly been used to suggest a ‘greatest of all time’ status for the young star and can be seen by using the hashtags ‘#Simone’ or ‘#SimoneBiles’ on the site.
Biles won four gold medals and a bronze at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and has accumulated 25 medals, 19 of which are gold.
An emoji has only ever been presented to a male athlete in the past, with stars such as Tom Brady and Pat Mahomes having had their own.
Biles will start her Tokyo Games this Sunday in the team qualifying rounds.
The United States Olympic committee announced this Wednesday that Biles and her teammates will not stay at the Olympic Village but at a hotel instead, as a preventative measure against COVID-19.
