Popular US late night TV host Bill Maher has tested positive for COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated.
Maher tested positive from a routine PCR test which all staff members of the show take on a weekly basis.
As a result of the PCR test, Maher will be unable to host ‘Real Time with Bill Maher’ for the first time in the show’s 19 season history.
“Thanks to all wishing me get well,” he tweeted.
“Hard to do since I feel perfectly fine, but I appreciate it! Most upset about ending my streak going back to 1993 of never missing a Politically Incorrect or Real Time episode. Oh well, even Cal Ripken had to sit one out at some point.”
Maher was asymptomatic and mentioned that he had not been feeling any of the effects of the virus.
The result brings into question the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccinations given that Maher had taken both shots against the coronavirus.
