Ed Woodward is set to resign from his position as Manchester United executive vice chairman.

The news comes after a day of protests on Tuesday around the proposed European Super League, which Manchester United were one of the leading clubs of the 12 founders.

Woodward has been in the job at Old Trafford for eight years, but he has never had a good relationship with the club’s supporters, making countless questionable decisions that annoyed fans.

The Super League appears to have been the catalyst which brought he decision forward , and he was already expected to leave his post at the end of 2021.
