  1. This should be a no brainer.

No matter what your opinion of Kepa is, I think we have to go for this. Even if Kepa becomes lives up to his full potential and magically comes back from quarantine a superstar, Will is 38 and well need a new backup keeper in the next year or two at most. 35m is nothing in this market and the more options we have at goalkeeper the better.

  2. Absolute bargain. Makes the Kepa price tag seem even more ludicrous than it already was

  3. I’d snatch this kid up immmmmediately. Light a fire under kepa or just straight replace him.

  4. One of the reasons Kepa is underperforming right now, is because his competition is a 38 year old Willy. Bringing in Onana would improve Kepa and Onana both, by providing adequate competition between the two for a starting spot.

  5. Onana is such a talented keeper. Barca graduate and is in the mould of the modern keeper as he can comfortably play with his feet. A real indictment of the problems at Barcelona and La Masia that he was allowed to go. But Barca’s loss is Chelsea’s gain and in many ways the youth project under Lampard is in the style of the Catalan Club. I just hope Frank is given time to instil a “Chelsea Style” that transcends the football at the club much like Ajax and Barca.

  6. 35M! what do they take us for? How in God’s name is he worth 45M?

They either take 55M or we walk away from the deal!

    Bollocks.

  7. People saying Onana won’t come here to be no. 2, do you really honestly think Kepa is better than him??

  8. Everyone saying this is a great deal, yeah it is. But we don’t have an infinite transfer budget and we have other areas of the pitch which I would say are higher priority such as lb and rw to fill. Also need a striker. I’d give kepa another year and use the money in other areas.

  9. “Oh-Na-Naaaa, What’s his name? Oh-Na-Naaaa, What’s his name?”

Please tell me that exists haha

  10. My initial thought was why another short ass keeper. But onana is 2 inches taller than kepa. Still only 6’3” tho.

Kepa is out for me but idk If Andre is the answer. If i had to pick one it’d be Andre tho.

  11. People here going crazy. You want to set fire to a 72 million pound investment because onana is relatively cheap? You do realize he’s cheap because clubs are gonna be right for cash, we are already no longer big hitters in the market, if we spend 35 mill on a GK we will have very little to work with to fill the much more pressing holes in our team at LB, CB and ST. Hell we probably need to buy a winger as well if both Pedro and Willian are allowed to go on a free.
Kepa has not been great, but he’s young and we have seen him be good in the past. Maybe this break is what he needs, maybe he just overpwrformed in his first season. Regardless we have to give him another year to either prove us right or prove us wrong.

  12. I would be all for this move but my only concern, isn’t he another ‘short’ keeper? Looks about the same height as Kepa in pictures.

  13. Fair price. I think he’d be a good buy, we could use him for Premier League and Kepa for cup games… Maybe Onana in the CL. I personally don’t think we should sell Kepa, at least not yet. Let’s get some competition for him and see what he’s made of. I honestly think alternating goalkeepers could work provided both of them are on board
