Arsenal have this afternoon provided a fitness update on the club’s squad, ahead of their crunch meeting with Manchester City.
Arsenal vs Man City
The Gunners are set to welcome Pep Guardiola’s men to the Emirates tomorrow evening, for a high-profile Premier League clash.
Arsenal will head into proceedings keen to build on their result from last weekend, which saw the north Londoners finally bring an end a 9-match winless streak across all competitions.
A visit to capital rivals West Ham eventually saw the visitors emerge with a 3-1 victory.
Arsenal’s opponents tomorrow, though, have also not been in the best of form of late.
Manchester City have managed just one win from their last 3 league outings, a 4-1 drubbing of Burnley last week.
The Citizens’ latest fixture, meanwhile, saw them put to the sword by 2 goals to 1 by city rivals Manchester United.
This streak, coupled with Liverpool’s victory over Watford earlier today, means that Pep Guardiola’s men now sit a hefty 17 points off the pace being set by the table-topping Reds.
As such, for obvious reasons, City simply cannot afford to drop points in north London in 24 hours’ time.
The Sky Blues’ hopes of putting Arsenal to the sword, though, have today been dealt a boost.
This comes in the form of a fitness update on the Gunners’ squad.
In a post across the club’s website and social media channels a short time ago, Arsenal confirmed that all of Hector Bellerin, Kieran Tierney, Rob Holding, Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos are set to miss out tomorrow afternoon:
Tight right hamstring. Will miss Manchester City (h). Aiming to resume training next week.
Left hamstring. Sustained during the Vitoria SC (a) match on November 6. Will miss Manchester City (h). Aiming to return to full training next week.
Left knee. Bruising to knee. Will miss Manchester City (h). Aiming to return to full training in the next two weeks.
Right shoulder. Dislocated right shoulder during West Ham United (a). Kieran will undergo surgery next week and will rehabilitate for around three months.
Concussion. Sustained strike to the head from the ball during West Ham United (a). Will miss Manchester City (h) and will be managed as per concussion protocols.
One piece of positive news for Freddie Ljungberg’s men, though, comes in the form of confirmation that Nicolas Pepe will be fit to feature from the off versus Man City:
Available for selection for Manchester City (h) after bruising to left knee sustained during West Ham United (a).
