As confirmed across the English media this evening, Shanghai SIPG boss Vitor Pereira has opted to drop out of the running to be named the new manager of Everton.
On the back of an abysmal start to the campaign, a long-anticipated change at the helm at Goodison Park was confirmed last week.
A 5-2 drubbing at the hands of Merseyside rivals Liverpool proved the final nail in the coffin of Marco Silva, as the Toffees’ hierarchy opted to part ways with the Portuguese tactician:

The post-Silva era at Everton got underway on Saturday, as the Blues welcomed Frank Lampard’s Chelsea to Goodison for a Premier League clash.
Duncan Ferguson was the man tasked with interim duties for the matchup, with the club legend’s influence having proven an immediate one, as the hosts ran out 3-1 winners, courtesy of a thoroughly impressive performance.
Pereira drops out
Nevertheless, though, the general assumption remains that those in charge of the Toffees will opt to bring in an experienced option on the bench over the coming weeks.
One of those hotly-tipped for the post, meanwhile, has been Shanghai SIPG boss Vitor Pereira.
Sky Sports News last week went as far as to suggest that Everton had identified the Portuguese tactician as a prime target:

The latest updates emerging this evening, though, have seen Pereira ruled out of the running for the Goodison bench.
The former Portuguese international is said to have informed Sky Sports that he has opted against pursuing the opportunity to become Everton’s next manager:
