Liverpool vs Man City: Predicted by David Seaman – big pressure after Ederson injury | Football | Sport
But, if Ederson fails to make the trip through injury, it will be a massive blow for Pep Guardiola, he said.
There will be big pressure on substitute goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, after failing to impress in the Champions League during the week, when he was sent off after replacing the injured Ederson.
But, even if Bravo does feature in goal for the Citizens, Seaman still thinks it’ll be Guardiola leaving Anfield with the three points.
“I think it’s massive, if [Ederson is] out,” he told Sky Sports’ Soccer AM.
“We’ve all seen – not just this season, the previous season – he’s brilliant.
“He can make saves from having nothing to do all game. That’s what shows me that he’s a quality goalie.
“He’s got that left-foot, and he used to be a midfield player. If he doesn’t play, he’s a massive miss.
“Then we look at [Bravo] that went in during the week and made that mistake as well, so it’s going to be big pressure on him.”
When asked who he thinks will win the tie, Seaman simply stated: “City.”
The champions haven’t won at Anfield in 16 years, and face falling nine points behind Liverpool in the title race if they succumb to defeat.
Meanwhile, Guardiola confirmed on Friday that Ederson won’t be available to face Liverpool, although some Reds fans are convinced the Catalan is playing mind games.
The Brazilian was substituted at half-time against Atalanta on Wednesday, in the Champions League.
Guardiola said that the substitution was purely precautionary, but he’s now unlikely to feature at Anfield.
Bravo replaced Ederson, but was subsequently sent off midway through the second half, meaning right-back Kyle Walker had to temporarily don the goalkeeper’s gloves.
