Liverpool fans make Carabao Cup joke about Aston Villa as under-18s hammered by West Brom | Football | Sport

Liverpool fans have all warned Jurgen Klopp that they risk crashing out of the Carabao Cup to Aston Villa, after their under-18s side lost 6-3 to West Brom’s under-18s.

The Reds have admitted that they’ll be forced to use two separate squads for the match against Villa and their first Club World Cup game next month, which will be played within 24 hours of each other on different continents.

It’s widely expected that Klopp will play a weakened team in the Carabao Cup, with a host of youth players to be used in the squad.

Liverpool fans think that they risk a heavy defeat to Premier League club Villa if they’ve failed to beat West Brom’s kids.

“The Carabao cup squad isn’t looking too promising,” tweeted one Liverpool fan, after the Reds conceded the sixth goal in the first-half.

After going 6-0 down, another fan tweeted: “Congratulations to Aston Villa for advancing to the semi finals of the Carabao Cup.”

“Villa 13-0 Incoming,” added one supporter, and another said: “Aston Villa might best these lot 25-0.”

“How they meant to beat villa in December??,” asked another Twitter user.

“Thay have to play better against Aston villa,” said one fan, and another Liverpool fan added: “ok bye bye carabao cup.”

“This team is playing against Villa’s 1st team next month…,” reminded one supporter.

Liverpool under-18s went into half-time 6-1 down, with West Brom striker Jovan Malcolm scoring four goals.

But, they scored two unanswered goals in the second half, with the match ending as a 6-3 defeat.

Liverpool missed the chance to leapfrog Manchester City in the Premier League under-18 table, instead settling for second position after nine matches.

Meanwhile, the Reds progressed to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals after a 5-5 thriller against Arsenal.

Divock Origi scored in the 94th minute to send the match to penalties, with the Reds ultimately winning the shootout 5-4.

Liverpool have also beaten the Milton Keynes Dons 2-0 in the Carabao Cup this season.
