LaLiga: Adama Traore opts to be an international for Mali
LaLiga Wolves winger played for Spain under 21s
The Spanish national football team is about to lose one of the fastest and strongest players in the world as Adama Traore has chosen to play for Mali as his international country.
It has come as a surprise for most, given that the Wolves forward has played for Spain at all of the youth ranks, even playing for Spain’s Under-21 side as recently as March 2019.
The 23-year-old came through the ranks at Barcelona but, despite his youth, he has played over 200 games as a professional, 76 of them in the Premier League for Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Wolves.
He has also played 35 games in the Championship and 63 for Barcelona B in Segunda Division in Spain.
The rapid winger has shut the doors on a Spanish national team debut even though he has potential to be one of the stars of his generation.
Traore is shining this season for Wolves, producing some of his best performances to date, becoming a key man for Nuno Espirito Santo, who has dropped him into a wing-back role.
With 10 games in the Premier League this season he has scored twice and has already played nine games in the Europa League, with five in the qualifying rounds.
