Chelsea ace Michy Batshuayi opens up on relationship with Frank Lampard | Football | Sport
That’s according to striker Michy Batsuhayi.
The Belgian striker has come back into the fold at Stamford Bridge under Lampard, having failed to make an impact under Maurizio Sarri last year.
Batshuayi is yet to start a Premier League game this campaign, but has made six appearances, scoring once.
He also started in both Carabao Cup tis against Grimsby Town and Manchester United, scoring three times in those two games.
The 26-year-old appears to be enjoying life under Lampard’s management, having leapfrogged Olivier Giroud in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
“He has been very involved, and put a lot of work in,” Batshuayi said.
“He emphasises the defensive work and the physical work a lot, which has been very interesting for me.
“He’s a very simple guy. He doesn’t speak a lot.
“Sometimes when he wants to have a laugh he tells jokes, but he knows when he needs to be focused and when he wants to relax.
Batshuayi also spoke about Christian Pulisic, who he played with last season whilst on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
Pulisic has been on form recently, having scored four goals in his last two league games.
“I know Christian from Borussia Dortmund,” Batshuayi continued.
“We always stayed in touch and then he came here.
“He is a very good person, very simple, he works a lot, and when he plays, assists or scores I am very happy for him, as he is for me too.”
