Arsenal news: Ray Parlour reckons he knows when Arsenal will sack Unai Emery | Football | Sport
Many Arsenal fans have called on their club to part company with Emery following a poor run of results.
Ahead of Saturday’s trip to high-flying Leicester City, Arsenal had won just one of their last six matches in all competitions.
That run included Premier League draws at home to Crystal Palace and Wolves, as well as the 1–0 loss at Sheffield United.
They made the final of that competition last season, only to lose 4-1 to Chelsea in Baku.
Parlour says things must improve defensively but does not think the Arsenal board will axe Emery until the end of the season.
“I think they will stick with Emery for now. Yeah [until the end of the season], I really do,” he told talkSPORT.
“They’re going to give him an opportunity, they’ll still look at the Europa League [as a way to qualify for the Champions League] because they got to the final last year.
“The biggest question mark is whether they can or not, that is the big question mark. At the moment with the way they’re playing, they’re nowhere near the top four.
“But they’ve got to improve, he knows that. Defensively they’ve got to improve.
“How many times have they gone in front and then suddenly they give an opportunity away to the other side?
“We’ve seen it in so many games, against Palace, Liverpool, Wolves last weekend and in the Europa League this week.”
