Arsenal hoping to snatch two scouts from Man Utd in major restructure | Football | Sport
The Gunners are keen to improve their backroom set-up in the youth ranks, and already have their eyes set on Manchester City’s Joe Shields.
Shields is the man widely credited with bringing Jadon Sancho to the club back in 2015.
Now, reports state they want to poach Dave Harrison and Lyndon Tomlinson from United.
The Norwegian is keen to sign young players for the first-team squad, and did so in the summer with the acquisitions of Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Per Mertesacker and Edu are reportedly leading the rebuild at The Emirates.
The ex-Arsenal defender is currently the academy manager, while Edu is the club’s technical director.
Last week, it was reported that the club had taken the decision to release eight staff members behind the scenes.
Earlier in the summer, Edu hinted that he would be wielding the axe in order to improve the club’s productivity.
“The amount of staff we have in academies is, I’ve never seen anything like it.
“On one hand it’s good to take care of the players but I don’t know, sometimes I get confused by the number of people who have an impact on one kid.
“We’re talking 100 people or more have an influence on one kid over years.
“It’s quite a heavy load.”
