Barcelona ready to offer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang escape route out of Arsenal
The Gabon international is still the team’s most productive players and has netted nine goals so far this season.
And he has just been named club captain after Granit Xhaka was stripped of the role after a feud with fans.
Aubameyang has been a revelation since moving to the Emirates from Borussia Dortmund in 2018.
And El Chiringuito claim that Barcelona are ready to offer the 30-year-old a way out.
The report claims that the Spanish champions see the hitman as a replacement for Luis Suarez, who is showing signs of slowing down.
It is claimed that Barca would prefer to try to sign Aubameyang in the summer rather than midway through their season.
But instead they could try and seal a deal when the transfer window reopens in January.
Rumours while Aubameyang was still in Germany had suggested that he always craved a move to Spain – but to Real Madrid.
Los Blancos were linked with signing him before he joined Arsenal and Gunners chief Sven Mislintat believes he would prefer to join the Bernabeu club.
“He is one, possibly the only one, of these extraordinary top, top, top strikers who is an absolute team player,” Mislintat said recently.
“A striker like Neymar or (Sergio) Aguero, for example, would never give a penalty to (Nicolas) Pepe to score his first goal. It’s vice versa — ‘Come on, I will take this penalty kick, nobody else!’
“Auba gave the chance to Pepe. His instinct was, ‘Let’s score and let’s go forward together.’ He takes care about his team-mates.
“Since he joined Arsenal, he played where he was asked and needed, and so he helped especially (Alexandre) Lacazette to adapt to the Premier League.
