Rangers Ace Commits His Long Term Future At The Club: A Big Boost For Gerrard?
Rangers have recently gone on to confirm that they have extended Ryan Jack’s stay at Ibrox as he signed a new contract. The new deal will keep him at the club until 2023. The midfielder had signed an earlier deal in December 2018. However, his performance since the turn of the year and his importance in Gerrard’s first-team; probably prompted the Gers to elongate his contract further.
Speaking to RangersTV, the Scotland international said (Via Daily Star): “I’m delighted to commit my future to Rangers, and the club have shown great ambition to get me re-signed on a new deal. I’m over the moon, and I’m looking forward to the future now.
“With the length of the contract the club has given me, I hope to repay that in the next three-and-a-half years. The gaffer came in and showed great belief in me and said to get my head down and work hard.”
Not many expected Jack to be this good when he was signed on a free transfer in 2017. However, the way he has gone about his business ever since Gerrard took over, leaves no doubt that he is one of the first names on the teamsheet. Rangers have had plenty of competition for places in the middle, but Jack has gone on to emerge as one of the mainstays.
What makes Jack special?
The defensive midfielder was just seen as a midfield disruptor, to begin with, but he has come up leaps and bounds with his on the ball play. He can carry the ball forward well from midfield, he links up play smartly and has an abundance of energy which keeps him going for the full 90 minutes.
He can tackle, intercept, defend and find neat passes under pressure as well; what more Gerrard could ask from his midfielder and there is no doubt that he will have a crucial role to play in this tight ongoing title race.
Big boost for Gerrard to fight off future interest
Jack is currently at the peak of his career and him committing to a long term deal at Ibrox shows that he is willing to give his best years for the club. The way he is going, we think that there could be interest for him down south in the summer window. But this new contract will act as a major detractor to the potential buyers. Even if they go on to sign him, Rangers should be able to pocket a hefty sum.
