Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gives verdict on calls for Man Utd to sign Harry Kane

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised Harry Kane during his press conference in Belgrade this evening — but insisted he is happy with Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

That alone is enough to make United fans flinch when the team is on a painful dry spell for goals since the beginning of the season.

Sure, it may change now that Martial is back, but the Frenchman has never scored 20+ goals in one season and has mostly played out wide since joining the club in 2015.

Rashford, on the other hand, isn’t exactly a goalscorer, and United are in desperate need of one.

Solskjaer was responding to Roy Keane’s assertion that the acquisition of Kane would prove an instant solution to United’s problems up front.

The Norwegian smiled when Keane’s comments were put to him, saying, “Roy’s quite straightforward isn’t he? For us it’s working hard, getting Anthony back is going to be a massive boost for us and I’m sure when Anthony comes back that’ll help Marcus as well.

“With the forwards we’ve got and the pace, I’m looking forward to the next few weeks.

“There’s aren’t many Robert Lewandowskis and Harry Kanes, they’re like Alan Shearer, Ruud van Nistelrooy — fantastic players.

“Ours are different types of players but I like someone who can finish half a chance and he does that.

“Marcus’ played with Harry and knows how good he is but he’s a Tottenham player.”

It would take some convincing to persuade Kane to join United at the moment and Spurs are notorious negotiators.

The North London outfit aren’t doing much better than us this season, but if Kane was to leave White Heart Lane he’d surely attract interest from the likes of Real Madrid.

United aren’t in the same league as Madrid at the moment, though, it could come down to Kane wanting to stay in England and simply join a bigger club than Spurs.
