Man Utd news: United have two problems to overcome before signing Harry Kane – Pearce | Football | Sport
Manchester United have two problems to overcome before they can sign Harry Kane, claims former England defender Stuart Pearce.
Legendary United captain Roy Keane said on Sunday his former side should go all out for Tottenham star Kane to solve their goalscoring issues.
However, Pearce says United will firstly have to prise Kane away from the club he has so much affection for and convince him their club is the right place for him.
“No it won’t be [easy for Kane to leave Spurs for United],” Pearce said on talkSPORT.
“A: you’ve got his affection for the club he is one of few players who you feel has a real connection with a football club he plays for, that’s going to be a problem.
Pearce admits a signing like Kane is the type of player former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson used to make.
“But when you look at United in years gone by, that’s what Sir Alex used to do,” he added.
“I’ll just pull a couple of names off the top of my head. [Ruud] Van Nistelrooy, [Andy] Cole, [Teddy] Sheringham, [Dimitar] Berbatov – he used to go out and buy the best centre forward that was on offer at the time.
“Also there are question marks over the character of the dressing room at United, and when you sign Harry Kane you get a top character a well and a top professional.”
“I think Harry is a Tottenham man,” Brazil said.
“I think he’ll only go abroad, I really honestly believe that. I don’t think he’ll go to United.”
