Man Utd news: Solskjaer slammed as “small-time manager” after Liverpool draw | Football | Sport

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been slammed as a “small-time manager” by Simon Jordan.

The former Crystal Palace owner can’t see how United will bridge the gap with Liverpool in the Premier League table with the Norwegian at the helm.

His comments came after United’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Solskjaer’s team held out until the 85th minute before conceding to an Adam Lallana goal.

After the match, Solskjaer claimed that his players were tired, which is why they conceded the late goal.

Jordan was deeply concerned by the response, and thought it highlighted that the boss is well-out of his depth.

“At the end of the game, of course they are going to be mentally tired and fatigued… but so are Liverpool,” Jordan told talkSPORT.

“Liverpool had to get something, and Man United had to hold onto something.

“Why is one person’s resolve less than the other’s to achieve the outcome they wanted?

“To me, that epitomises everything I’ve said about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“He is a small-time manager in a big-time job.”

Solskjaer isn’t as good of a tactician as Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, and his players aren’t as good as Liverpools, he added.

With that in mind, it’s difficult to see how United can edge closer to Liverpool’s overall quality, he claimed.

Jordan’s comments came after United clung on to claim a single point against table toppers Liverpool.

Marcus Rashford scored the match’s opening goal before the half-time whistle.

But, Lallana tapped in the equaliser at the far post to maintain Liverpool’s unbeaten league start to the season.
