‘Household name’ Aston Villa midfielder receives glowing praise from Zimbabwe teammate

Midfielder Marvelous Nakamba is enjoying a good start to life at Aston Villa following his summer move from Club Brugge.

After moving to B6 from the Belgian side in the summer, the 25-year-old was handed his Premier League start in the goalless draw with West Ham last month.

Since then, the Zimbabwe international has made six appearances for the claret and blue, playing a key role in Dean Smith’s midfield.

Nakamba has 12 caps for his country, and he owes a lot of his success to his hardworking mum, Charity, who we spoke to last month.

Nakamba’s international team mate, Alec Mudimu, has made five appearances alongside the Villa midfielder for Zimbabwe.

The 24-year-old says he’s not surprised to see Nakamba thriving so much in the Premier League with Villa, adding that it is good for the club and his country.

“Of course, it’s difficult to jump straight into the English Premier League but he (Nakamba) has settled fantastically and is slowly becoming a real household name at Aston Villa, which is great for him I’m sure and, of course, Zimbabwe,” said Mudimu.
