Fans react to Erling Haaland post celebrating his Man City ‘heroes’

RB Salzburg striker Erling Haaland has endeared himself further to Manchester City fans after sharing a post calling two former players his heroes.

Haaland is the son of former City player Alf-Inge, and has spoken previously about watching his father play for the club in his early years.

Now playing for Salzburg, Haaland has gained attention from around Europe for scoring 18 goals in 12 games this season, including against Liverpool at Anfield in the Champions League.

Naturally, such form in front of goal has seen him linked to most of Europe’s big clubs – City included, as well as rivals United and Liverpool.

So fans allowed themselves to get excited when Haaland shared an image of his father and George Weah playing for City with the caption: “heroes”.

The post was sent to him by Lille striker Timothy Weah, son of George, with the caption “archives” and a fire emoji.

Therefore, Haaland’s response is likely to be paying tribute to the pair’s fathers, rather than necessarily a comment on playing for City.

But that didn’t stop fans from demanding City make a move for Haaland as a possible replacement for Sergio Aguero in the future.
