China will host landmark Club World Cup
Club World Cup New York Times say FIFA have already made the decision
Gianni Infantino‘s plans for an expanded and unique Club World Cup are continuing to take shape, and it’s understood that China will play host to the landmark competition.
On October 24, the FIFA Council will be held in Shanghai and an official decision will be made on the host of the tournament, although in some quarters they believe FIFA have already decided.
The dates of the competition haven’t yet been made official, but the ambitious project is likely to be held between June 17 and July 4 in 2021, with a grand total of 24 teams from all confederations being invited to participate.
Again, there aren’t any official details, but it’s expected that Europe would have eight slots allocated to their continent with the winners of the Champions League and Europa League from the last four seasons set to automatically qualify.
Immediately this would place Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid as teams already qualified for the competition.
