Barcelona vs Real Madrid: Why LaLiga don’t want to play El Clasico on December 18
Barcelona vs Real Madrid Clashes with other competitions
LaLiga have expressed their objection to holding El Clasico on Wednesday December 18.
LaLiga sent two notices to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF)’s Competition Committee on Monday asking for the match not to be scheduled on that date.
The first notice sent by LaLiga was about holding El Clasico on Wednesday December 4 instead because there is currently no set competition taking place on that day.
LaLiga and the RFEF had agreed to leave December 4 free in case they had to reschedule any matches for exceptional circumstances.
The second notice claimed that a Clasico on December 18 would clash with the TV rights for the Club World Cup, with Liverpool‘s semi-final being held on the same day.
LaLiga’s sources have told MARCA that they will take legal action if this delay in the Competition Committee’s decision making prevents the management from resorting to regular justice, they will take legal action.
