Arsenal fans dub Kieran Tierney better than Andy Robertson ahead of Sheffield United clash | Football | Sport
Arsenal fans have hailed Kieran Tierney as better than compatriot Andy Robertson in the build up to his Premier League debut on Monday night.
And 90 minutes followed nine days later, when Tierney helped himself, and Arsenal, to another clean sheet in the 4-0 rout of Standard Liege in the Europa League.
Excitement over the left-back has built around the Emirates Stadium since he signed from Celtic for a reported £25m in the summer, and supporters are keen to see their star in action against the newly-promoted Blades this evening.
And Arsenal fans hailed the defender over the weekend, claiming he was better than Liverpool star Robertson after the Reds’ full back failed to keep a clean sheet against under-pressure Manchester United on Sunday.
One fan tweeted: “Tierney > Robertson.”
While another agreed: “Better than Andy Robertson LMAO.”
A third fan claimed the Liverpool ace, who was one of the standout stars as they clinched the Champions League last season, has not been at the same level since Tierney’s arrival in England.
They wrote: “Robertson hasn’t been the same since Tierney moved to England.”
Another supporter added: “Tierney not even played and he’s already sending Robertson to retirement.”
While in a comment on the Man Utd vs Liverpool clash, another fan posted: “Robertson looked at Tierney defending videos at half time.”
One of the Gunners faithful claimed Tierney was better than both Robertson and Barcelona defender Jordi Alba.
They tweeted: “I keep hearing names like Alba and Robertson. Tierney >>>”
Another fan dubbed Tierney the “best Scottish left back in the league” over Robertson, while another hailed the ex-Hoops man as one of the best Arsenal full backs in recent years.
They put: “Already the best LB ever since [Ashley] Cole.”
