PSG hatch transfer plan to beat Real Madrid to Tottenham star Christian Eriksen | Football | Sport

Paris Saint-Germain are set to make Christian Eriksen an offer in January, as the Denmark international continues to snub the offer of a new deal at Tottenham.

The 27-year-old looked set to join Real Madrid when he eventually leaves north London in June, with the Spaniards unlikely to pay the fee Manchester United are demanding for alternative target Paul Pogba.

The Daily Mail have claimed French giants PSG are now carefully considering what they can offer the playmaker, and added that Spurs may be open to doing a deal in January.

United have also been linked with a move for Eriksen as they continue to rebuild under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but his age may prevent interest going any further.

Tottenham are set to wave goodbye to Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderwiereld as well as Eriksen as three of their core players search for new clubs, with Mauricio Pochettino’s future also in doubt.

Spurs managed to end a run of defeats with a late equaliser at home to Watford on Saturday, and their Argentine boss is still confident that he has the squad to turn their season around.

“I trust 200 per cent in them [the players] and I believe they have the capacity and the potential to win games and turn this type of situation,” Pochettino said.

“We have the confidence that we have the quality and it’s only time to put all the things clear.

“In this type of situation, the most important [thing] is to be all together and show a strong face to the problems and talk a lot.”

It was Dele Alli who found the net late on in the 1-1 draw on Saturday, and his manager has backed him to find a good run of form after a poor season last time out.

“I have had some conversations with Dele over the last two or three years,” Pochettino said. “It’s a process.

“He’s young, 23, but I love the way he’s working hard to be the best, to find the best form. That is a process that needs time, too.

“I think he’s very close and he is doing well.

“It was a good opportunity for him in these last two weeks to work hard and clear things up in his head.

“And for us to help him find his best form.”
