‘Sign him up Gareth!’ Aston Villa fans praise Jack Grealish after late win over Brighton
Aston Villa came from behind to secure a dramatic 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in their latest Premier League clash.
The home side trailed after Seagulls defender Adam Webster opened the scoring in the 21st minute.
Drama filled Villa Park as Dean Smith’s side thought they had equalised in the 42nd minute through Conor Hourihane, but the effort was disallowed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for offside.
But in first-half stoppage time, Villa did have their equaliser as captain Jack Grealish stepped up to put his side on level terms going into the interval.
After an end-to-end second half, Villa took the lead deep into stoppage time thanks to a goal from Matt Targett, which sealed all three points for the claret and blue.
After the game, Villa fans took to social media to express their thoughts and emotions on their side’s performance, with a lot of praise for one player in particular.
Here is a selection of what they had to say.
