Barcelona: Messi, Alba and Griezmann to debut at Ipurua
Barcelona Yet to play together as a trio
Barcelona could line up with a new trident at Ipurua this Saturday. Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Jordi Alba haven’t featured on the pitch together at any point yet after eight rounds of LaLiga Santander action and two more in the Champions League.
After the Copa America, Messi picked up an injury on his first day back for pre-season and that kept him sidelined until mid-September, when he returned against Borussia Dortmund in the second half.
Jordi Alba took part in the summer tours of Japan and the United States and was the starting left-back up until Barcelona‘s game at Dortmund, when he broke down after two injury-less years.
Due to Alba‘s 40th minute substitution in the Dortmund game, him and Messi did not coincide on the pitch as the Argentine was introduced on the hour mark.
On top of this, Griezmann didn’t play against Sevilla, but he’ll be back in Ernesto Valverde‘s XI this weekend with his compatriot Ousmane Dembele suspended.
Messi and Alba‘s connection consistently delivers for Barcelona, and now Griezmann will be hoping to involve himself in that as well. The three players could form a trident of their own.
