Transfer news LIVE: Man Utd verbal agreement, Cazorla tips off Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool | Football | Sport

Mario Mandzukic to Man Utd agreement

Manchester United will have to spend £10million if they want to sign Mario Mandzukic from Juventus in the January transfer window but the player has reached a verbal agreement with the Red Devils.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Croatian star Mandzukic to beef up his misfiring front line.

He failed with a summer move for the former Bayern Munich star who will be 34 next May but is understood to have now reached a verbal agreement.

Juve want to offload Mandzukic who has has been told that he won’t be featuring in Maurizio Sarri’s plans for the season.

He has rejected a lucrative move to Qatar and has been offered the chance to play in the MLS with LAFC but still feels that he can play at the highest level in Europe.

Santi Cazorla tips off Arsenal

Arsenal lead the race to sign Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres after a tip off from former midfielder Santi Cazorla.

The 22-year-old has been in fine form for the La Liga side and was rewarded with a new five-year contract as a result.

90min claim Arsenal have already expressed a strong interest in Torres with Chelsea and Manchester City also monitoring the defender.

Torres has a release clause between €50m and €75m in his contract but the Gunners will want to seal a deal for less than those amounts.

Liverpool signing depends on Naby Keita

Liverpool must give Naby Keita time to prove he can live up to his billing before signing a new midfielder, says Jamie Carragher.

“What I would say is Liverpool have a world class goalkeeper and back four, a world class front three, but I just think they have a top class midfield, without it being world class,” Carragher told talkSPORT earlier this week.

“I actually think Fabinho in that holding position is as good as anyone in that position.

“But what Liverpool have in that position is a lot of numbers, in terms of players.

“What I think the manager will do is use them all sparingly really, he’s trying to get them all at 100 per cent rather than playing the same two every week.

“I think the one, before Liverpool look into the transfer market, is Naby Keita. Liverpool are still waiting for him to take off, really.

“It was a big transfer fee when he come in, didn’t quite hit the ground running, had some good games, some injuries.

“I think the feeling around the club is they’ve got to give it a good 12 months to really see what Keita can bring to the midfield.”
