Tottenham news: Why Christian Eriksen wants Real Madrid move in summer instead of January | Football | Sport
Eriksen expressed his desire to leave Spurs in the summer as he claimed he wants a new challenge and was strongly linked with a move to Real who are still keeping tabs on him.
Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is a big admirer of the Denmark international, who is in the final year of his contract, and seems keen to make a move during the January transfer window.
According to ESPN, though, the star midfielder is more keen on a summer deal as there would be no transfer fee and that would allow him to claim more bonuses.
Real have been hampered with a string of injuries in midfield so far this season and that is why Perez is keen to seal Eriksen with a starting offer of €30million (£26m).
The Madrid giants tried to sign Pogba in the summer but failed to meet United’s £179m valuation.
The Real boss, though, is not convinced as he believes his compatriot has a strong desire to join him at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Perez, on the other hand, still has his heart set on Eriksen and is adamant that a player of his profile is the right candidate for the team’s midfield.
The attacking midfielder has since scored 67 goals and produced 87 assists in 288 matches.
He has so far made 11 appearances this season but only managed one goal and one assist.
