Petr Cech wears helmet with Chelsea and Arsenal badge on Guildford Phoenix debut

Petr Cech made his ice hockey debut tonight for Guildford Phoenix against the Swindon Wildcats 2.

And the former footballer donned a helmet which sported both badges from Chelsea and Arsenal.

The Czech star played for both clubs in London across a 15-year long career in the Premier League, winning a multitude of trophies and plaudits.

But he could not keep a clean sheet on his first bow for his new club – and sport – conceding twice in a 2-2 draw.

Fans tuned in to watch the 37-year-old in action, but instead of facing balls he had to defend against a puck.

Phoenix are the reserve side of professional outfit Guildford Flames but Cech was not disheartened, instead excited by his new venture.

He had said last week: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to play with the Phoenix to get the match experience.

“I hope I can help this young team achieve their goals for the season and try to win as many games as possible when I have the chance to play.

“After 20 years of professional football, this is going to be a wonderful experience for me to play the game I loved to watch and play as a kid.”

Cech had kept the Wildcats at bay for the first-half as the two sides went into the break 0-0.

But after taking the lead, a quick-fire double from the visitors saw them relinquish control.

However, the home side struck back to draw the scores and take the game to OT.

Cech’s helmet has garnered some interest – which dons several emblems.

Among them include the club badges for Chelsea and Arsenal, as well as famous London landmarks such as Big Ben and the London Eye.

Cech’s ice hockey hero Dominik Hasek was spotted on his chin-strap – a Czech legend of the sport – while the former Rennes ace also donned his former number 39.
