Man Utd news: Scott McTominay blasted by Scotland fans during San Marino match | Football | Sport

Manchester United star Scott McTominay has been the subject of Scotland fans’ criticism on social media, during their match against San Marino.

The midfielder blasted over the bar from a tight angle midway through the half.

Many Scotland fans were confused as to how he manages to play regularly for United.

“Mctominay is actually s***, how does he start for Man United?”, tweeted one Scotland supporter.

“McTominay isn’t a particularly good footballer is he?” added another fan.

“San Marino and Scott McTominay are s****,” added another Twitter user.

“McTominay is so f****** bad. How does he get a game. I don’t get it,” said one supporter.

Another Scotland fan tweeted: “Scotland would be 5-0 up if McTominay could pass the ball.”

“Is that boy McTominay for real? Nae wonder Man U are so p***!!,” claimed one supporter.

“Admittedly don’t watch a lot of Man Utd but their league position is no surprise if Scott McTominay is playing every week,” added a Twitter user. “Very average player.”

Scotland went into half-time 3-0 up against San Marino, after a first-half hat-trick from Aston Villa’s John McGinn.

But, they’re chances of automatic qualification for Euro 2020 were ended by Russia earlier this week. They’ll now have to qualify for the play-offs if they’re to make it to next summer’s competition.

McTominay has started all of United’s Premier League fixtures this season, under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He’s provided one assist, in a match against Southampton at St Mary’s, and scored at Old Trafford against Arsenal.

The Scotsman has spent his entire career at United, and is contracted to the club until June 2023.

He came to prominence under Jose Mourinho, and has since made 39 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils, scoring three times.
