Man Utd mocked by rival fans after reaching verbal agreement with Mario Mandzukic
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to bolster his attack after a series of toothless displays.
And with the Red Devils teetering on a crisis as they sit two points above the relegation zone, reinforcements have been requested.
After selling Romelu Lukaku, it has left Marcus Rashford up front as the only out-and-out striker.
But the Englishman has struggled with the responsibility and Solskjaer has insisted more experience is needed to help ease the situation.
It has led to reports in the Express that United have come to an agreement with Mario Mandzukic .
Juventus have demanded £10m as part of the deal, that would see the Croatian join in January.
At 33, the striker has a wealth of top-level expertise – playing for the likes of Bayern Munich, Juve and Atletico Madrid.
But rival fans have mocked the Red Devils for putting their trust in the forward – who has not even seen a minute of action this season.
One fan said: “So United’s new plan is to do exactly what Mourinho suggested, but two years later when everyones older and more expensive, and now no longer coached by one of the most successful managers of all time? Okay then.”
“They are desperate af,” another quipped.
And this fan said: “This will end up like Matic. Good for one and a half seasons and then fall off the cliff.”
Another eluded to one of the current rising stars at United, saying: “Nothing says ‘I trust Mason Greenwood’ more than buying a 33 year old striker that can only get worse.”
