Man Utd boss Solskjaer gives six-man shortlist to Ed Woodward ahead of transfer window | Football | Sport
Solskjaer is having to contend with a thin squad and injuries which are hampering his squad.
With Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba having a spell on the sidelines, Manchester United have been desperately short of options.
As a result, the likes of Mason Greenwood, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong have all played more than Solskjaer would like despite their potential.
Now the Daily Mail claim the United manager has handed Woodward a six-man shortlist of top targets he wants to see sign for the club.
United are hesitant to invest big in January though and would prefer to wait until the end of the season.
That’s after bringing in Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in the 2018 winter window.
The report claims the Red Devils are keen to learn from Liverpool’s approach with Virgil van Dijk where they were patient in their pursuit of the Holland international.
Furthermore Solskjaer reportedly feels he must finish in the top six or he will lose his job at the end of the campaign.
United signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James and Harry Maguire in the summer.
But they also let the likes of Ander Herrera, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Chris Smalling leave.
That means United have a lack of squad depth which needs to be addressed in the January transfer window.
