Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa ‘clearly doesn’t trust’ Eddie Nketiah says Danny Mills
Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has a “trust” issue with Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah.
That’s according to former Whites and England right-back Danny Mills.
Nketiah is yet to start in the Championship, making six substitute appearances.
He has scored twice off the bench though, also bagging in both of Leeds’ games in the Carabao Cup, the only starts he has made.
The youngster has also scored a brace for England U-21’s during the international break.
Many expected Nketiah to light up Elland Road this season as he looks to impress Arsenal boss Unai Emery and earn a place in the Gunners first-team.
But he has found his options severely limited by Bielsa.
And Mills is confident that Bielsa “doesn’t trust” Nketiah yet despite seeing him find the back of the net for club and country.
“Yeah he is, but he just hasn’t really had a chance at Leeds from the start,” Mills told Football Insider when asked if Nketiah was banging on the manager’s door.
“It’s an interesting one, clearly it’s something that Bielsa doesn’t quite see in training, playing international football is different, it’s not the same as playing league football and certainly Championship football.
“You have to trust Marcelo Bielsa and say what is he not seeing in training? What is not happening for him to not be put in the starting line up?
“There’s just something that isn’t right. Bielsa clearly doesn’t trust him yet.”
