Jamie Carragher names his favourite player at Liverpool

Carragher’s favourite player at Liverpool

Since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund, Jurgen Klopp has helped restore Liverpool to their past glories.

The last two seasons have seen Liverpool reach the Champions League final in both campaigns with Klopp’s men coming out on top in the 2019 final vs Tottenham.

Liverpool also recorded a staggering 97 points in the 2018/19 Premier League campaign.

To achieve these impressive feats, Liverpool must obviously have some top quality players.

The likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk and Allison are all real talents and would probably make it into most teams around Europe.

But the man former player Jamie Carragher has named as his favourite player at Liverpool is Sadio Mane.

When speaking about Mane, Carragher stated:

“Even after the first couple of games, I said Mane, probably along with Raheem Sterling, was possibly the best left winger in the world.

“I absolutely love him, he’s my favourite player at the club. He’s brilliant, he’s always got a smile on his face, always there, always gets knocked about, gets goals, setting others up.

“He’s the one who came in at the very start under Klopp, his first real big signing, and I think ever since then he’s just been getting better and better. He’s just a machine.” As quoted by Liverpool’s official website.

Liverpool standout

Mane would join Liverpool in July of 2016, moving from Southampton.

Since then Mane has gone on to make a staggering 134 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions, in which he would score 67 and provide 24 assists.

The 2018/19 campaign was perhaps Mane’s best in a Liverpool shirt. The winger scored 22 goals in the Premier League, earning him the Golden Boot along with Liverpool teammate Mohamad Salah and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Mane has also hit the ground running this season, netting eight and assisting two in 11 games across all competitions.
