How does the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium transform into an NFL venue?
Premier League An expert explains how
For the second weekend in a row, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will host an NFL match with the Tamba Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers set to face off at 15:30 CEST on Sunday.
But just how does the stadium transform into an NFL venue?
“We needed to move out the football pitch,” an expert explained.
“The football pitch is 1.7 metres higher than the pitch we are seeing here, and when it moves out it has to go under one of the most wonderful stands in Europe, the south stand.
“The football pitch, which is at a higher level, splits into three and it passes through that stand, so the first thing you do is press a button and all the sides come down; all the approach ramps come down like moving bridges, one person operates it from a console.
“You could even do it from a mobile app, so that comes down and then you split the pitch in three and it rolls out.”
“All of that process takes about an hour and a half. The whole stadium has been prepared to be dedicated to NFL, it is now an NFL stadium, and you’ll see that when you start looking at the accommodation – it is purpose built for the NFL.”
“The atmosphere here is going to be electric compared to other places.”
