‘Fantastic business’ – The value Wolves could add to Joao Moutinho with new contract
Former Leeds United and England defender Danny Mills believes signing Joao Moutinho up to a new contract would be “fantastic business” from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Moutinho joined Nuno Espirito Santo’s side for £5m last summer and made 44 appearances in his debut Premier League campaign.
Should a new contract be confirmed for the 33-year-old – whose current deal expires at the end of the season – Mills says the ex-Porto man’s market value could be given a major boost.
“What they’re going to do now is put him on a long-term deal and if someone wants to buy him, they’re going to have to pay £20-£25million, and that’s fabulous business from Wolves,” he told Football Insider.
“Anybody that watches football regularly and watches the team regularly will realise what a very, very good player he is.”
Moutinho has already made 16 appearances so far in the 2019-20 campaign for Wolves, across the Premier League and Europa League.
