Real Madrid: Zidane wants a fully fit James Rodriguez in Monday training
Real Madrid Hopes he’ll start the week with the group
James Rodriguez has been unable to train with the rest of his teammates during the international break.
The Colombian has worked in the gym so as not to risk worsening a fibula issue.
Now, though, those within the club are keen for the player to be able to resume normal training this coming week.
Zinedine Zidane hopes that this Monday the player will be fully fit and able to train as normal.
Otherwise, if James can’t work with the rest of the group then his place for the match against Real Mallorca could be in doubt.
Many of Real Madrid‘s international players will also return on Monday to Madrid, although they may have that day off.
Luka Modric, Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale will be ready to train with the team throughout the week, so unless they suffer some physical setbacks in their international fixtures then they should be in perfect conditions to play in Mallorca on Sunday.
Zidane has been thinking about starting James in that match precisely because he has stayed in Madrid during the break, so a delay due to physical problems would leave him at a disadvantage.
The French coach has already said on many occasions that he does not want to risk any player who has physical discomfort.
Federico Valverde and Casemiro will arrive well into the week, so they may need more rest before returning to the first team.
That is why Zidane needs James in top condition and the key day for the Colombian is Monday, the date on which the Colombian should train at the same pace as the rest to be able to compete for that place in the line-up.
