Newcastle eye QPR ace Ryan Manning in January bargain transfer
Newcastle are weighing up whether or not to snap up QPR ace Ryan Manning for £3m, reports say.
The Magpies have undergone a summer of change after Rafa Benitez‘s contract expired and Steve Bruce was hired.
It has led to swatches of unrest amid the Toon support but the former Sunderland manager has gone some way to proving his credentials.
And after breaking their transfer record in the summer, Newcastle will look to continue their spending in January.
However, it will be considerably less than the £40m splashed out on Joelinton from Hoffenheim.
According to Football Insider, QPR ace Manning is being touted to make the move to St. James’ Park.
The 23-year-old has excelled since being moved to a left-back role this season by Mark Warburton.
Manning will see his contract expire at the end of the season, though there is an option to extend it by another year.
And Football Insider further report that a bid of just £3m could be enough to secure the Irishman’s services.
With Bruce’s most useful formation coming with a five-at-the-back system, wing-backs are essential.
Manning’s experience in midfield and his recent success in defence could see him excel on the left-hand side of Newcastle’s team.
Jetro Willems was signed in the summer from Eintracht Frankfurt in that position, but the Dutchman only joined in a loan deal.
