Rangers vs Liverpool Legends team news: Full squads for friendly as Gerrard headlines | Football | Sport
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will be the headline attraction when a team of Gers legends take on their Liverpool counterparts in a charity game.
The two sides will battle it out to raise money for worthy causes, with a donation going towards the LFC Foundation.
Gerrard has been named in the Liverpool squad but has hinted he could switch sides and also pull on a Rangers shirt at some point during the proceedings.
Speaking ahead of the fundraisers, Gerrard said: “I always look forward to a game of football.
“I’m going to play for Liverpool and who knows, there might be a little cameo in a blue shirt as well we’ll have to see.”
Gerrard shared the two squad lists on his Instagram account, with the Rangers No. 8 left vacant and still to be confirmed.
Rangers Women Head Coach Gregory Vignal will also be faced with conflicting loyalties, having spent a five-year spell on the books at Liverpool.
However, the Frenchman only notched up 11 Premier League appearances for the Reds while he helped the Scottish side to a league and cup double in 2004/05.
“I think both squads are good and full of players who played a big part for Rangers and Liverpool,” said Vignal.
“Everybody needs to be fit first! I try to stay fit so maybe they can get 45 minutes out of me, you always want to play 90 minutes but we have about 20 players so maybe everybody will play 45 or 60 minutes. We will see on Saturday.”
The Liverpool squad contains household names such as Jamie Carragher, Emile Heskey and Dirk Kuyt while Champions League heroes Jerzy Dudek, Luis Garcia and Vladimir Smicer are also set to play.
Meanwhile, Nacho Novo and Peter Lovenkrands spearhead a Rangers outfit packed with Ibrox fan favourites.
Gers have confirmed that supporters will be able to pay at the gate, with tickets priced at just £15 for adults, £10 for concessions and £5 for juniors.
The match will air live on LFCTC GO with fans around the world able to access the free stream.
It will also be available on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for fans wanting to catch the action on alternative platforms.
