It was a set of results that left Albion at the top of the league as they headed to Leeds United in October, and so enough to earn Bilic a nomination for the monthly gong.

Competition for the award is stiff, though.

Sabri Lamouchi, who has led Nottingham Forest to the same number of points as Albion – and in fact hasn’t lost since their meeting with the Baggies on the opening day – is on the list.

So too is Garry Monk, who has overseen a transformation in Sheffield Wednesday’s fortunes since he was named as Steve Bruce’s permanent successor at Hillsborough.

Alex Neil of Preston makes up the list – he has his side in the play-offs, and they’re the division’s top scorers to boot.

The winner will be announced on Friday morning.

Albion don’t, however, have a player represented on the list of player of the month nominations.

Chey Dunkley of Wigan, Kamil Grosicki of Hull, Nakhi Wells of QPR and Fulham skipper Tom Cairney are in the running.
