LaLiga: The strikers going through scoring droughts in LaLiga Santander
LaLiga From De Jong to Jovic to Sandro
LaLiga Santander teams have played eight games each so far this season, but there are still a handful of strikers who haven’t managed to meet the expectations in scoring terms.
Sevilla striker Luuk de Jong hasn’t managed to celebrate a goal yet this season, while Real Madrid‘s new signing Luka Jovic hasn’t netted a single official goal following his move from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Another example of a forward going through a goal drought is that of Sandro Ramirez, who hasn’t scored in almost two years and who couldn’t beat Jan Oblak from the penalty spot in Real Valladolid‘s 0-0 draw against Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
Youssef En-Nesyri has yet to net for Leganes, who currently sit bottom of the LaLiga Santander table, while Chimy Avila is carrying Osasuna on his shoulders as Adrian Lopez has zero goals.
There are some who have one goal to their name, but who were expected to have more by now.
Diego Costa, Alvaro Morata, Borja Iglesias, Iago Aspas, Inaki Williams and Santi Mina have only managed to beat the opposition goalkeeper once each so far this LaLiga Santander season.
Morata‘s goal came in his first game of the season against Getafe, while Costa hasn’t scored since the match at Real Mallorca.
Real Betis‘ new signing Iglesias netted once against Levante, while Mina scored his only goal against Espanyol and Aspas finally fired home last week against Athletic Club.
Williams, in the meantime, has celebrated just one goal of his own, doing so in the Basque derby with Real Sociedad.
Eibar striker Charles helped his team a lot last year with his goals, but this season he has only scored once in the defeat away at Atletico Madrid.
Meanwhile, none of the Levante forwards have impressed so far this season as Sergio Leon, Borja Mayoral and Jose Luis Morales have scored a combined three goals after eight LaLiga Santander games.
