Harry Redknapp explains hospital visit this morning after strange BT Sport accident

Harry Redknapp had to be rushed to hospital this morning after bizarrely getting a piece of TV kit lodged in his ear.

Footy legend Redknapp was a guest on BT Sport’s coverage of Saturday’s Premier League action.

But he nearly ended up off screen for the most bizarre of reasons.

BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey, who was at the Amex Stadium for Brighton’s clash with Tottenham in the day’s early kick-off, asked Redknapp to explain his hospital trip.

And the ex-Spurs and West Ham boss said: “I came in and they put an earpiece in me, and I took it out, but a piece of it broke off and got stuck in my ear.

“So I ended up in the local hospital trying to get it out because the most the guys were trying to get it out, the deeper they were pushing it in.

“Anyway, it’s out now.”

BT Sport pundit Jermaine Jenas quipped: “So he made it through the Jungle and all the Bush tucker trials and he struggles in the BT Studio!”

Brighton went on to beat Redknapp’s former club in a thumping 3-0 win.

The result piles the pressure on Mauricio Pochettino, with Spurs being hit for seven by Bayern Munich in the Champions League just days before.

Elsewhere in the top flight, Liverpool needed a last-minute James Milner penalty to see off Leicester in a 2-1 win at Anfield .

Aston Villa put Norwich to the sword with a 5-1 rout at Carrow Road while Burnley got the better of Everton at Turf Moor in a 1-0 success.

Watford and Sheffield United drew 0-0 in the day’s other 3pm kick-off.
