When Paul Pogba will return from injury for Manchester United
The injury kept him out of international duty with France and on the sidelines for United’s successive 1-0 wins over Leicester City and Astana, as well as the trip to the London Stadium.
Solskjaer named Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay at the base of his midfield instead for the game versus West Ham with Fred coming off the bench, despite having impressed in the Europa League victory.
“Hopefully he will be available for Rochdale midweek,” said Solskjaer when asked by Sky Sports pundit and ex United star Gary Neville about Pogba and his team selection.
“He has just started training, it means we have named an unchanged team and sometimes that helps as well.
“Nemanja is experienced and he does give that protection, as a different type of player to Paul. Nemanja has always been a top top professional and for me having Scott and Nemanja gives us a foundation to play from.”
The 26-year-old was subject to transfer speculation in the summer after saying he wanted a “new challenge”, with Real Madrid still interested in a transfer.
The defeat to the Hammers increased the pressure on United, who will want Pogba to return as soon as possible. After the Rochdale game on Wednesday night, they host Arsenal on Monday week.
