What Chelsea fans are saying about Christian Pulisic after Frank Lampard decision
Chelsea fans are beginning to wonder what Christian Pulisic has done to Frank Lampard after another omission.
The American was a £58m signing from Borussia Dortmund last season, but has not been commanding a regular spot.
Pulisic has not started since Chelsea surrendered a two-goal lead at home to Sheffield United in August.
He looked hugely impressive in pre-season, admittedly that form has not translated to the Premier League, but Blues fans are still questioning his spot on the bench.
“What has Pulisic done to Lampard??” asked one.
“What did Pulisic do man ffs,” question a second.
“NO PULISIC NO PARTY,” added a third.
“Ffs no Pulisic again,” bemoaned another.
Pulisic being left out may not have been well received, but Mason Mount’s inclusion has.
His participation in this afternoon’s clash was questionable after he hobbled off with injury on Wednesday night.
The youngster was scythed down by former Arsenal man Francis Coquelin and immediately brought off with Lampard unsure as to whether he would be fit.
It is a major boost for the hosts given Mount’s influence on games since his debut at the start of the season.
His three goals have come alongside seven for striker Tammy Abraham.
He will again lead the line with Willian on the opposite flank to Mount and a midfield trio of Matteo Kovacic, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante behind them.
Emerson, Fikayo Timori, Andreas Christensen and skipper Cesar Azpilicueta make up the back four in front of Kepa Arrizabalaga.
