Patrice Evra posts cryptic message to Manchester United board on Instagram
The defeat has led to a major outpouring of discontent from supporters, who have criticised manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
And with the club yet to appoint a technical director, it seems Evra has put his name in the ring for the job. His former teammates Rio Ferdinand and Dimitar Berbatov have been linked with the job, which remains vacant despite the club actively looking for an appointment for the past six months.
“I think it’s time to get our hands dirty!” Evra said on his Instagram account.
“Manchester United board are you ready to let us help you guys…?”
In response to a comment on the post saying “handle transfers for the club mate”, Evra then replied that Juventus star Paulo Dybala would be his first signing.
United signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James and Harry Maguire in the summer, but have been criticised for their failure to land a striker to replace outgoing pair Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez and their inability to sign a central midfielder despite the position being one of their main priorities.
Whether Evra is being serious about his intention to help the United board remains to be seen, but the former left-back has been at the club’s Carrington training base in recent weeks completing his coaching badges..
