Chelsea news: Jose Mourinho picks out three Blues players for their role in Liverpool loss | Football | Sport
Mohamed Salah rolled the ball to Trent Alexander-Arnold to thump the ball into the top corner to give Jurgen Klopp’s side the lead.
Replays showed that the Chelsea wall was too slow to close the ball down and Jorginho appeared to turn his back on the strike.
“I think the goalkeeper should be a little bit more on his side and not be afraid of the ball either the wall,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.
“It’s very difficult for the ball to go other the wall and if it does it’s a slow ball not a fast ball.
“Also the players on the side of the wall have to be much more ready to attack this ball.
“Maybe not just Jorginho, maybe also [Mateo] Kovacic to close and block that ball.
“This is the kind of ball I can see a John Terry or Jamie Carragher diving to block the ball, with the chest.
“It’s little details that can cost you points.”
After the match Frank Lampard explained that he told his players they deserved something from the game.
“I told them that I felt that we were right in the game,” he said.
“Tammy Abraham’s chance, the disallowed goal and the free-kick from them was fantastic.
“I said I don’t mind losing, I won’t take Sheffield United at home [which ended 2-2], but I can take today.
“It’s moments that cost you. The second half is where we want to be, energy passion and moving the ball quickly. We need points though.”
